A first birthday is a milestone, for your baby and honestly mostly for you. You made it through the first year. That deserves a celebration.
But it can feel overwhelming: the themes, the guest lists, the cakes, the decorations. A first birthday party doesn't have to be complicated to be beautiful. It just has to feel like you.
Start with a theme you actually love
The most memorable first birthday parties have one thing in common: the parents chose a theme they genuinely liked, not one they thought they should like.

- Drinks: juice, prosecco, soft drinks. Don't overthink it.

The thing most parents forget
Charge your camera the night before.
Seriously. Everything else, the decorations, the food, the cake, can be slightly imperfect and it won't matter. But if you run out of battery during the smash cake moment, you'll be gutted.
Also: assign one person (a partner, a parent, a friend) to be the dedicated photographer for the party. When you're the host, you're managing a dozen things at once. You won't be able to catch the best moments yourself. Hand it off.
